Dr Azzaam Najjaar
MBChB (UCT), MMED (UCT), FC Plast Surg (CMSA)
Dr Azzaam Najjar graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) from the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2006. During his surgical rotation as an undergraduate, he discovered his passion for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He went on to complete two years of internship at Tygerberg Academic Hospital, during which he also obtained certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through the American Heart Association. In 2009, he fulfilled his community service as a Medical Officer in General Surgery and Neurosurgery at Livingstone Hospital in Port Elizabeth, where he also completed the Basic Surgical Skills Course (BSSC) and the Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course.
In 2010, Dr Najjar began his formal journey in Plastic Surgery as a Medical Officer in the Department of Burns and Plastic/Reconstructive Surgery at the Port Elizabeth Hospital Complex. Here, he gained valuable experience, completed the Basic Microsurgical Skills course, and contributed to multiple research projects presented at national Plastic Surgery congresses.
He later returned to Cape Town to pursue specialist training as a registrar in Plastic Surgery at Tygerberg Academic Hospital, before completing his residency at UCT. His training included work at Groote Schuur Hospital, internationally renowned for pioneering the world’s first heart transplant, and the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital.
In 2019, he successfully completed the Fellowship examination in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery through the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (FC Plast Surg). The following year, he was awarded a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with distinction by UCT.
Dr Najjar’s extensive training, clinical expertise, and dedication to his patients drive his approach to delivering exceptional care. His areas of special interest span skin cancer management, aesthetic breast surgery, body contouring and female rejuvenation procedures, reflecting his commitment to both restorative and aesthetic care.
